Summer Reading

The United Methodist Women invite you to read the award-winning book The Round House by Louise Erdrich over the summer. We’ll have a discussion of this book in August.  Copies are available to borrow through the Contra Costa Library System, or can be purchased online from Amazon or other retailers; used books from 1 cent and new for about $10.

The Round House is the story of Joe, whose life is irrevocably transformed one spring day when his mother is attacked. As she takes to her bed, Joe is increasingly alone and finds himself thrust prematurely into an adult world for which he is ill prepared. Erdrich’s The Round House is a page-turning masterpiece of literary fiction—at once a powerful coming-of-age story, a mystery, and a tender, moving novel of family, history, and culture.

This book is one of about 50 books chosen to be featured as part of the national UMW Reading Program. If you are interested in reading others, you can find more details here.
