When did Christmas get so complicated?  Checking lists, decking halls, and dashing through the crowds.  What if long lists, crowded stores, and hectic plans did not define Christmas? This year we are going to focus on finding the true meaning of Christmas by checking our lives with peace, decking our halls with love and dashing to others with messages of joy and hope.  Our Advent sermon series Checking, Decking & Dashing starts November 30. Hanging of the Greens – On  Sunday, November 30 at 4:30 p.m. we will decorate the sanctuary, sing some carols, and share a potluck meal together. The United Methodist Women (UMW)  will be holding a mini craft boutique during this time, and after the services on December 7 and December 14.

UMW also are offering “alternative” Christmas gift ideas available to you from the Heifer International Holiday Catalog.  Consider giving your loved ones and friends this gift of hope which supports so many families in need. Our Pennies in Heaven offering this November will also go to Heifer.

Kaleidoscope Comfort & Joy Holiday Baskets are being assembled the first week of December. These will be delivered to those who have cancer or who have experienced cancer the past year, those who have lost a loved one in the past year, or those who need their spirits lifted during the holidays.

Our choir are joining with Brentwood Community United Methodist Church to bring us their Christmas musical program A New Birth, A New Beginning.  You have two opportunities to hear the combined choirs at Brentwood. Mark your calendars now for: Saturday December 6 at 6.30 p.m. AND  Sunday December 7 at 3.00 p.m.

Then on Sunday December 14 at 9.30 a.m. at our morning service, we will be blessed with music from our Bell Choir and the Sanctuary Choir together with the children and others participating in our All-Church Pageant.

Pastor Joan and Adrian invite you to a Christmas Open House at the parsonage on Saturday December 20. Drop round for a while between 2 and 5 p.m. and sample a few English Christmas delicacies!

A Winter Solstice Labyrinth Walk will be held on Sunday, December 21st at 4 p.m.  hosted by Kaleidoscope. The theme is The Gift of Darkness, exploring what this season’s longer nights have to offer. More details.

On Christmas Eve, we will be having two services .  We will have our usual candlelight service at 7 p.m. and an additional, slightly shorter, family friendly service at 4 p.m. Please help us to get the word out, and do invite your friends, as together we find the true meaning of Christmas.
